Octoberfest is coming – October 24, 2021

Join us for Octoberfest in the Good Sam parking lot on Sunday, October 24, 2021 after the church service. We will start with a canned food sculpture contest (see below) to benefit the food pantry, then move on to some good food and fellowship. Since COVID recommendations change often, the Octoberfest will take place outside as a family picnic and the food will be take-out style. Enjoy music and playing in a castle along with a Bratwurst meal including sauerkraut, red cabbage, German potato salad and dessert for $15.00 or a hot dog with chips and dessert for $5.00. Please bring your own chairs or a blanket and a pop-up canopy, if you like. On-line ticket sales will start the end of September, with the last day to buy tickets being October 17.  This event, hosted by the Empty Nesters, is a fundraiser to upgrade our IT used Sunday mornings for worship.  Read More.

What is a canned food sculpture contest?
You get to build something out of non-perishable food!! You can grab some friends, coworkers, another Good Sam family or group, or go it alone as a family. To get you going, we will have a canned goods  starter kit along with some helpful hints. But, in order to complete your creation with the utmost creativity, you will need to bring additional canned or boxed food items. After church on October 24th, we will gather outside and you will stake out your building area. Then, you will have about an hour to build your creation. When time is up, everyone will admire the sculptures and awards will be given.  At the end of the Octoberfest we will carry the food to the food pantry. Please use the on line Octoberfest sign up so we can get your kits to you. (You can google canned sculpture images for more ideas or check out the images from our 2015 can sculpture event.)
